DIY Pest Control

Is it always necessary to call a local pest control company to deal with household pest control problem? Well the answer Yes and No! It all depends on the severity of your problem. As a pest controller of over 20 years myself, here is just two tricks of the trade that members of the public can do to help prevent pests from entering their homes and businesses.

Pet fleas - Flea infestations are very common
problem, especially in homes that have domestic pets. The easiest way to guarantee that your pet and home stays flea free this year, is to take your cat or dog to your local vets and ask for the flea injection. That's right, the flea injection! No matter how hard you look for the advertisement in the reception area you will never find it. The reason for this is, THEY DONT advertise it... Why? Because it works and its good and lasts for years, but your vets would prefer you to buy bottles and bottles of flea shampoo, powders and sprays.

Remember - The average flea control treatment by a professional pest control company ranges from £65 to £175. The flea injection costs around £55 and can last up to 4 years.

Mice - Rodents pests can be a real pain, especially
if they find their way in to your personal living space. One of the most common ways for a mouse to enter a property is to enter through an external air vent. This can be easily resolved by rodent proofing all of the vents with a fine steel mesh that can be purchased from your local DIY store. All you need to do is, cut they mesh to the same size as the vents and the use 4 self tapping screws and drill the mesh in each corner. If fitted correctly, this will stop any mouse or rat infestation from entering your property ever again! Remember proofing your properties air vents can only be fitted when their are no rodents inside your home.

Remember - A role of mesh and a box of self tapping screws will cost around £40, and will last up to 20 years. The cost of a professional rat control service should be around £90, this may vary depending on which company you use.
